Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih English vers.

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih

                A long time ago, there lived a couple husband and wife. They had a very beautiful daughter, the name is Bawang Putih. Her father was a seller, he liked take a long trip. They had neighbor who is a widow and had a daughters too, named Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu. The Mama Red was jealous  to Mama White because Mama White is rich. Same like Mama Red, Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu was jealous to the Bawang Putih because Bawang Putih is more beautiful than  her. One time Papa White want to go to the city. It was an oppurtunity to them to poisoning Mama White while Bawang Putih went to somewhere. Then Mama White was died. 

To took care of Bawang Putih when he had some trip, Papa White marry with Mama Red, and then they were lived together. But not long time after their married, Papa White want to go to the city again. After their father go to city, Mama Red, Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu began cruel to Bawang Putih. 

Bawang Merah  : “Putih! You must wash clothes, plate, and all kind of homework!”

Bawang Bungsu : “Wash my clothes until clean like new!” (throw her dirty clothes to Bawang Putih)

Bawang Putih     : “But there are so many clothes here. I don’t  think that I could handle it.” (taking Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu’s clothes on the floor)

Mama Red       : “Do it or you aren’t  allowed to eat today.”

Bawang Putih    : “Y..yes, mom!”

                Bawang Putih who was afraid if she didn’t  allowed to eat, so she immediately went to river to washed her step sister’s clothes. But she didn’t noticed that one of the clothes was lost.

                When she arrived in her home, she met her step mother and step sisters waited her impatiently. She gave them the clothes and suddenly Bawang Merah found out one of her favourite cloth was lost.

Bawang Merah  : “Putih!!!! Where is my pink jacket?!”

Bawang Bungsu : “Really? Is it lost? Maybe she want to take a revenge to us!”

Bawang Merah  : “Oh, how cagey you are!”

Bawang Putih    : “No, sister. I am not kind of that. I swear I don’t know that one of your cloth is
missing.”

Bawang Bungsu : “Liar!”

Bawang Putih    : “No, I  am not!”

Mama Red        : “Stop  it, you two! And you (pointing at Bawang Putih) go back to river and find my
  daughter’s cloth!”

                Bawang Putih went back to river and looked for Bawang Merah’s pink jacket. But she didn’t find it. Sometimes, she just upset and really missing her mother. She was disappointed and preparing herself to faced her step mother’s anger when someone pat her shoulder. She was turned her head and found a young lady smiling at her.

Bawang Putih    : “Who are you?”

Santi                 : “I am a girl from the next village. My name is Santi. What are you doing here?”

Bawang Putih    : “I am looking for my sister’s cloth. I think I lost it. And you?”

Santi                 : “Ah, I always go here when I feel tired. It is so relaxing here. Wait a minute, I find clothes when I walking around. Maybe one of this clothers is hers.” (gave Bawang Putih two clothes. Those are pink jacket and the another is cloth which seemed shining and had some tiny jewel across its collar.)

Bawang Putih  : “That pink jacket is my sister’s! Thank you, Santi! I think you saved me!”

Santi                : “Saved you? What do you mean?”

                Then, Bawang Putih told her about her step mother and step sisters. Santi felt really sorry for her. She already had a plan to make Bawang Putih’s step mother and step sisters feeling regret of all what they done to Bawang Putih. Without Bawang Putih realized, Santi gave her much of money on her bag, a perfume and a white paper in its.

After separated with Santi, Bawang Putih quickly went to home. Bawang Merah was so happy when she knew that her cloth was back. But she thought she didn’t need to say thanks. Then Mama Red allowed her to eat.

But Bawang Putih who felt that her bag was heavier than before went to her room to checked it out. She was very shocked when she found much money, a perfume and a white paper.

“You are so kindhearted and honest, so I give you some of my money. Tell your step mother and step sisters what you get from me. One day, when you see your step mother and step sisters have many reddish small bump in their skin, you must tell them that The God might be angry of what their done to you. Give them this perfume and they will back to normal.

                Actually, she didn’t know what the meaning of Santi’s paper but she thought that maybe it would work. She told them what happened and what she got but she didn’t mentioned about the paper and perfume.

                Mama Red, Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu who were greedy agreed to following what Bawang Putih did to got some much money from Santi. They acted like they lost one of their clothes after they threw away it on the river. A few minutes later, they met Santi who was walking around.

Mama Red : “Hallo, young lady? Do you see my cloth? I think I lost it.”

Santi           : “Well, I find two clothes. Which one is yours?” (showing them two clothes. Those are red and the another is cloth which seemed shining and had some tiny jewel across its collar.)

                Mama Red, Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu smiled each other.

Bawang Bungsu : “The red one is our mom’s cloth. Thank you for find it.”

Santi                 : “Oh, your welcome. I also give you another prize for your honest. You can get it when you go home.” (gave them a bag)

                They were immediately went back to their home. They were very excited to thought what would they got. It would some money, jewels or else. But there is nothing in the bag. Otherwise, they felt itch from their skin. They scratch their arms, neck and head. Suddenly there are so many small bumps on their skins. They were afraid and scream out.

                Bawang Putih who were in kitchen ran to them and watched them had so many small bumps on their skins. She remembered what Santi said in her paper and she told them so.

Mama Red       : “We are so sorry, Putih. And please help us. We are promise to never going to be cruel and rude to you again.”

Bawang Merah : “Yes, Putih, please.”

                So, Bawang Putih gave them her perfume and they were turned back into normal. They were hugged each other. Mama Red, Bawang Merah and Bawang Bungsu apologized for their mistakes and Bawang Putih with her big hearted then forgiving them. And when Papa White came back, Bawang Putih didn’t  tell him what happened before. Then they were lived happily ever after.
